2/3 BELIEVE 'NO CLEAR VISION' FOR THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORT
Only a third of transport sector leaders feel the UK government has a clear vision for the country’s transport. The result comes from new research by transformation consultancy Moorhouse. The report also found that just 18 percent believe that any vision on the future of UK transport is clear.
£3.4bn extra to UK economy through apprenticeships
Apprentices could contribute £3.4 billion a year to the UK economy through productivity gains by 2022, a new report from the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) says.
Released to mark the National Apprenticeship Week 2013, the report says a completed apprenticeship can add an average of £214 a week to business productivity through increased profits, lower prices, better products and higher wages.

ROGUE TRADERS FORCED TO CUT THE SCRAP
New laws on trading in scrap metal were passed today and will come into force later this year in a bid to cut back on sharp increases in criminal trading. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act will build on measures which have already been taken to clamp down on illegal trading.

UK ECONOMY GROWS MORE THAN EXPECTED IN 2012
The UK economy has grown more than expected in 2012. Growth in several sectors including construction caused the Office for National Statistics to revise its forecasts – changing the expected figure of no growth to 0.3 percent.
