A former alcoholic and drug user has been given a fresh start thanks to an engineering apprenticeship with Bosch.
Lewis Cassidy, 20, from Merseyside says he fell in with a “bad crowd” which led to him using drugs and drinking heavily. However, thanks to the help of the Prince’s Trust he is now enrolled on a four-year engineering apprenticeship.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper Cassidy said: “The Trust told me what I needed to do to sort me [sic] life out – they didn’t beat about the bush.”
Speaking about the apprenticeship scheme he’s now in, he added: “It’s perfect for me – I love it.”
Cassidy has become part of the growing apprenticeship movement in the UK which together adds an estimated £3.4 billion to the UK economy in increased productivity.
