Motor Codes has revealed the winners of its Garage of the Year competition. Top Marques of Hitchin picked up the award for best independent garage, while Leicester-based Sturgess Jaguar scooped the best main dealer prize.

ACDelco says it has recently seized 50,000 counterfeit parts in Saudi Arabia. The company says the scale of parts seized is a reminder that counterfeiting in the aftermarket is a global problem.
Autoparts launches training programme for indy garages
Autoparts has launched its own training programme to help independent garages improve technical efficiency and enhance service levels.
The factor chain has teamed up with training provider GTG to develop a range of bespoke training courses – which will be available to all independent garages serviced by Autoparts’ 13-strong network.
Modules covered by the training courses include business skills, IT training, health and safety, transport and logistics and automotive technical expertise.
CAT supplier lives: Autoelectro
While the business of rotating electrics is seasonal, it would be very wrong to think that a rotating company like Autoelectro is idle in the summer. Even so, the Bradford-based firm has put the extra time it has had in the warmer months to very good use.
Compared with CAT’s last visit around 18 months ago, the 35,000 square feet of workshop, warehouse and despatch area have been transformed.
Comma targets global markets and beyond
Comma says it is targeting global markets, with the announcement of a number of new agreements in Europe.
New business for the company extends across Russia, Romania, Poland, Spain, Portugal and Turkey amongst others, where new Sales Managers have also been installed.
Comma says it expects to put further Sales Managers in place across the Asia Pacific and other territories in the coming months.
SMMT LAUNCHES MOT CHECKS CAMPAIGN, BUT ONLY FOR DEALERS
The SMMT has launched a new campaign to help cut down on MOT failures, but has only joined up with main dealers. The campaign, titled “Minute Or Two” lists basic checks motorists can do themselves prior to taking their car in for an MOT, but has angered some in the aftermarket.
BOSAL MOVES TO REASSURE CUSTOMERS OF CONTINUITY
Bosal Group has moved to reassure its customers following the administration of Bosal aftermarket products. The group says a new company, named Bosal Automotive and Industrial Components Ltd will look after the needs of both current customers and future prospects.

The Institute of the Motor Industry is calling on factors to consider accreditation to improve their efficiency and profitability on the back of a recent update of their ATA Parts Adviser assessment.
Motor Codes GOTY regional winners revealed
Motor Codes has announced the regional winners for its Garage of the Year Competition.
Among the finalists are CAT Large Garage of the Year winners ABP Motorsport and CAT Award nominee iAutoUK.
Almost 12,000 garage customers across the UK have voted in the competition so far, which aims to give members of the public a roadmap of the best garages in the country. Both independent garages and franchises are included in the competition.
