The organisers of Automechanika Shanghai say the show is attracting record numbers of exhibitors and overseas pavilions.

Despite the global recession, the expo has already set a new record with more than 2200 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, including the UK.

As a result, the exhibition space has expanded to 9 halls, with a total of more than 100,000 square metres.

Mr Jason Cao, general manager, Messe Frankfurt Shanghai Co Ltd, said: “Our show is going from strength to strength and has set a new record for exhibitors and exhibition space.

“We have many new supporters, including the Hong Kong Auto Parts Industry Association who have arranged for several Hong Kong exhibitors to display their standard parts, chassis parts and regenerates parts.”

A matchmaking forum is also proving popular with heads of sourcing and procurement department from nearly 20 companies from China, Iran, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa and UAE having confirmed their attendance.

Among them are OEMs, wholesalers, distributors and retailers, including Federal Mogul, Gates Unitta Power Transmission Limited, GDC Enterprises, Partquip (Pty) Ltd, Valeo Asia and Yellow Hat Ltd.

Automechanika Shanghai, will take from December 9-11, 2009 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China.
