Light vehicles will continue require a valid MOT to be used on the road throughout the lockdown in England, DVSA has confirmed.
When asked by CAT what the situation will be, a spokesperson replied:
"MOT garages will still be open in England under the new national restrictions. People with a car, van or motorbike need to have a valid MOT if it is being used, except for the journey to a pre-booked MOT".

Scotland and Wales have also continued to require a valid MOT throughout their own lockdown measures. Meanwhile Northern Ireland has effectively given the public a 12 month extension. The test in NI is administered by DVA using local authority operated test lanes. Even prior to the pandemic, the system was on the brink of collapse.
