Sator’s acquistion of Kühne has big potential to grow

kuhle_fotos_9478_800After months of negotiations and discussions LKQ’s Sator has acquired Kühne Nederland BV.

The move will see Kühne Automotive continuing and being integrated with QH Nederland, which will see Jan van Doorn becoming appointed as Managing Director for Kühne as well as QH.

Adriaan Roggeveen, Chief Executive Officer of Sator, said: “The acquisition of Kühne fits into our growth strategy, both nationally and internationally. It has a comparable business model as Sator, where independent local wholesalers provide the logistical backbone for automotive installers.”

The acquisition is set to see Sator’s turnover increase to €340 million, and came about after the shareholders of Kühne recognised that the rest of Europe was consolidating, with Sator being approached in December 2012.

“Kühne is a great company with a rich history, major brands and an experienced team with extensive knowledge of the products and the market,” said Roggeveen.

The combined activities of QH and Kühne will continue from the site in Hoevelaken, with Kühne’s employees continuing to work for them. Roggeveen added that a reorganisation is inevitable but the aim is to integrate employees into the new group, and to maintain the expertise and knowledge of Kühne’s staff.

This news precedes Euro Car Parts announcement of its UK acquisitions on Monday, be sure to look out for our coverage of the new venture on CAT.
