LKQ OPENS KATOWICE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

LKQ Europe has opened a new software development operation in Katowice, Poland.

The hub will initially employ around 30 programmers, developers and testers, but there is scope to build the team up to as many as 250 people if the need arises.

The new operation is part of the group's plan to get is many and varied businesses to operate from one central computer platform. This will help the business make its administrative processes easier and will save costs.

Customer-facing websites, similar to the one used by Euro Car Parts will be developed at the centre and there is talk about an app being built for business customers in garages and bodyshops to help them find and order parts correctly and faster.

“Katowice will enable us to make our business more agile, international and cost-efficient,” says Yanik Cantieni, CFO of LKQ Europe.
