‘80s music tops the chart for UK motorists

The untimely passing of Michael Jackson has sparked a revival of ‘80s music, according to a poll of UK drivers.

According to a survey by vehicle history check company HPI, Britain’s motorists have taken a trip down memory lane this summer, indulging in nostalgic tunes from Queen, Soft Cell and the King of Pop himself.

HPI’s ultimate 80s drive-time compilation:

  1. Queen “I Want to Break Free”

  2. Soft Cell “Tainted Love”

  3. Michael Jackson “Billie Jean”

  4. Survivor “Eye of the Tiger”

  5. Frankie Goes to Hollywood “Relax”

  6. U2 “With or Without You”

  7. A-Ha “Take on Me”

  8. Ultravox “Vienna”

  9. Police “Don’t Stand so Close to Me”

  10. Dexy’s Midnight Runners “Come on Eileen”

“The untimely passing of Michael Jackson has got us reminiscing over the classic songs of this era,” said Nicola Johnson, HPI’s consumer services manager.

She added: “Our survey shows that UK motorists love a bit of anthem rock when they’re behind the wheel [and] it seems that traffic jams could be behind the [number one] choice – Queen’s “I want to break free.”
