Garage owners and technicians can boost their understanding of engine remanufacturing thanks to a newly revamped website from the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers.

The site boasts a short video so you can watch an engine being rebuilt, engine data and technical support and a company finder facility.

FER members must comply with a strict engine and machining specification as well as a Code of Practice, which includes an Approved Warranty scheme.

A major part of the work they do involves high performance engines for the road, track and competition vehicles, as well as classic cars.

Brian Ludford, FER secretary, said: "As each engine is different, [the site] won't tell you how to do the job or how much it is likely to cost.

“But it will help a customer understand the amount of work involved, give an idea about where the costs come from and provide an assurance about the quality that can be expected."
