This month sees us focus on both the Vauxhall Zafira and the Astra H. Both Griffin emblemed vehicles are derived from the Astra chassis, however, one was a popular hatchback tussling with the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf for supremacy, while the Zafira became a staple vehicle for those requiring extra space.
The Astra H was first introduced into the market in 2004, replacing the rather jaded Astra G with sharp lines and a well-built interior. While the Zafira B came out in 2005 with similar styling and once again based on the Astra estate’s underpinnings. The Zafira and Astra were launched with a range of powerplants, which included 1.6-, 2.0-, or 2.2-litre petrol engines and 1.3-,1.7- and 1.9-litre diesel options.
This variety of engines and the addition of new technology has provided a number of challenges.
