The inaugural ‘EV Ready’ trade show and technical conference for electric vehicles has taken place at Brighton Racecourse.

Some 350 industry professionals attended the event. The majority were technicians that were interested in the training seminars, but there were also a number of suppliers and representatives from the aftermarket’s various trade bodies.
Delegates were treated to presentations from the UK’s top experts in EV repair and maintenance. Highlights included a talk about the parts, diagnostic processes and workshop services needed for the latest and yet-to-be-launched vehicle technologies by Steve Rouse from Bosch, while a discussion panel with a mixture of industry figures including garage owners and suppliers tackled the issue of how EVs can be practically maintained when some vehicle manufactures are restricting access to spare parts and technical information.

Around 20 companies had stands at the show, with the majority demonstrating EV tools, but there were also some offering training programmes and garage software. Factor chain GSF Car Parts was the lead sponsor and was on hand with its events team to answer delegates' questions.
The event was produced by the owners of the Garage Wire website. Editor Mike Ruff said: “There was a very real need for this event. It’s a
chance for garage owners and technicians to network and chat with other electric vehicle professionals, to see the aftermarket’s response to the growing EV market and to understand where all of this leaves their business models”.
