National R1234yf has gone even greener

Sponsored article by National Refrigerants

R1234yf has now been supplied throughout the UK for over 10 years. This has traditionally been supplied in a 5kg cylinder while its predecessor, R134a, is supplied in a 12kg cylinder.

The 5kg cylinder was used due to the significantly higher price of R1234yf with very low demand compared with R134a, as it was difficult for early adopters to justify spending over a thousand pounds for a bottle of gas that could take months or years to use.

R1234yf is now widely used in millions of cars across the UK and is less than half its initial price, making the 5kg cylinder no longer practical for demand.

National R1234yf will now also be available in 10kg fills in the same cylinder, but with 10kg of refrigerant. By filling the same cylinder to 10kg, carbon emissions in production and transport are significantly reduced. Deposit cashflow is reduced by 50%, downtime changing cylinders is reduced by 50%, and cylinder storage space is also reduced by 50%.
