eBay, already the biggest online marketplace for car parts, is looking to attract more major aftermarket names and OEM suppliers to sell via the platform as its cements its position and continues to shake up traditional supply routes.
“We are offering the entire breadth and depth of inventory,” said Abir Tewari, Director of Commercial Operations - Parts and Accessories at eBay UK. “Through eBay, you can get aftermarket, you can get private label, you can get used and you can get Certified Recycled.”
Buyers can also get OEM parts direct from the VM now through official brand stores. “We’ve recently welcomed a number of vehicle manufacturers who now sell directly on eBay,” Tewari pointed out. Carmakers that have signed up include BMW, Mini, Renault, Dacia, Toyota and Lexus. The marketplace is also being used by Jaguar Classic and Land Rover Classic, as well as lubricant and car-care brands including Castrol and Autoglym.
With the recent threat of trade tariffs reigniting concerns over vehicle supply chain vulnerabilities highlighted by COVID-19, the Red Sea crisis and more, eBay is upping the ante. The marketplace is looking to support the sector and broaden its own reach through greater backing for suppliers selling and for garages buying through the platform.
Alongside the Certified Recycled programme which was launched in 2023, eBay has expanded the level of support it offers to those selling and buying both second-and and new vehicle parts too.
The company used Automechanika Birmingham 2025 earlier in June to showcase recently launched offerings to the automotive sector. Among these is My Garage. “Once a buyer has entered the details for their vehicle,” explained Tewari, “they only see results for parts that fit that vehicle. They also get a green check mark which is a strong signal that this will fit. This was a big investment, and it has increased confidence and reduced the incidence of people buying the wrong part.”

Linked to this is eBay Assured Fit. Thanks to this, if component does not fit, the buyer can return it for free within 30 days of taking delivery and receive a full refund. “You can return it and eBay cover the cost for shipping it back,” said Tewari, pictured above.
In addition, eBay continues to provide a tyre fitment service, which was relaunched in 2023. Buyers can choose from around 250,000 tyres through the hub. Once selected, tyres are sent to a local provider for fitment. With thousands of businesses signed up, eBay claims this makes its hub one of the UK’s largest tyre fitting networks.
One new development available across all programmes is the launch of VAT invoicing for business buyers. “Through our new automated VAT invoicing,” said Tewari, “when a business such as a garage buys a part, the system will automatically generate their VAT invoice.”
eBay sees its role as supporting established parts channels, with the online marketplace offering existing businesses, both OEM and aftermarket, another way for customers to obtain parts. “We are creating new economic opportunities for businesses,” said Tewari. “We are opening the market for all of our sellers, enabling them to sell to more customers.”
With everything that has happened since 2020, has eBay found itself in an advantageous position? “We've been doing well,” Tewari cautiously observed. “We are very resilient because of our supply base and also our buyer base.” The company is also supporting those using their platform. “We monitor all of and share data with our sellers.”
Tewari said eBay’s offering is leading the way for the rest of the market: “Others are picking up some of the things we’ve introduced, which shows competition is always good for the market. We are continuing to improve and evolve all our programmes. When it comes to our tyre fitting network, we are working to continually widen coverage. Looking at our Certified Recycled programme, we will be asking ourselves what more can we do for sellers.”
This is all helping to build up eBay’s overall offering. “Our vision,” concluded Tewari, “is that eBay will be the place where you can find every part for every vehicle, across the entire spectrum of value.”
