Family-run parts distributor SDL Car Parts has expanded its reach with the opening of its 13th branch in York.
It says the opening of the new site marks a significant milestone in the company's 47-year history serving the garage industry.
The new Clifton Moor facility opened on 4 August 2025, extending SDL's coverage over 100 miles north to south—from York in North Yorkshire down to Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire. Local garages now have access to SDL's comprehensive inventory of 100,000 stocked items, covering European, American, Japanese, and Korean vehicles.
The York branch launches with a trial fleet of eight electric delivery vans. SDL says this demonstrates its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
"We look forward to improving local supply chains by bringing a local, friendly and reliable service to the city," said managing director Nick Holland. "Local garages across York will benefit from our inventory, and in turn, motorists will receive better value and improved service levels."
The expansion coincides with SDL achieving Investors in People Standard Accreditation and rebranding from SDL Minorfern to SDL Car Parts across all branches.
