Technicians will soon be able to access the data, knowledge and guidance needed to service hybrid and electric vehicles as part of what is being called the UK’s most comprehensive support package for independent garages.
Launching in October, the new service from the Independent Garage Association (IGA) combines EV expertise from the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance (HEVRA) with Solera Autodata’s technical data.
The IGA says the service will “redefine” how independent garages access the technical knowledge and expert guidance needed to service hybrid and electric vehicles.
It adds that with the number of plug-in vehicles on UK roads rising, this initiative ensures workshops are equipped to service the growing electrified vehicle market, safely, confidently and profitably.
Stuart James, CEO of the IGA, said: "This launch represents a vital step in ensuring our members remain at the forefront of an industry undergoing rapid change. We are equipping independent garages with the confidence, skills, and recognition they need to not only adapt but excel in the electric vehicle era.”
How it works
Participating garages will gain access to specialist EV repair guides and data created by HEVRA which is integrated with Autodata’s technical information.
They will also benefit from direct assistance from HEVRA’s team of EV experts, available across multiple channels.
In addition, the platform enables technicians to upload and verify their qualifications, giving them recognised status as EV-ready professionals and helping customers identify workshops with proven expertise.
