Marathon Warehouse Distribution has opened a new regional distribution centre based in South Wales.
The Caerphilly site offers improved service to factor customers in, what Marathon describes, as an important region of the UK. It will deliver a frequent same-day service to customers across South Wales and Bristol.
It becomes the 10th distribution centre in Marathon’s expanding national network, which already includes locations in North and South London, Reading, Southampton, Colchester, Loughborough, Warrington, Castleford, and Redditch. A further site - its location not yet disclosed - is also already in place and Marathon is looking to open this later in the year.
The expanding network, Marathon said, will allow it to achieve its goal in offering frequent same day service to factors, at the same time improving delivery speed.
Marathon has also announced that at the same time as the Caerphilly warehouse opening it will be improving its same-day delivery frequency to customers served by three of its other regional distribution centres.
“The opening of Caerphilly marks another big step forward in our commitment to responsive, frequent same-day service to factors across the UK,” said Colin Fisher, Marathon’s director of sales and marketing. “It’s about speed, yes, but also consistency and overall support to our customers.
“The new centre will enable us to strengthen the service and support we offer to our expanding factor customer base and the launch will also see some new products launched at all of our centres at the same time adding more choice and availability to our already wide range of brands.”
