LKQ UK and Ireland installs solar array to slash its carbon emissions

LKQ UK and Ireland has installed a solar panel array which promises to significantly cut its carbon emissions at its central logistics centre in Tamworth.

The panels cover the roof of the T2 building at Birch Coppice business park, and are capable of generating up to 2948kW in total.

LKQ said this will help to offset its energy consumption by up to 32% and could reduce its CO2 emissions by 12,554 tonnes over the 25-year lifespan of the array.

“Operating sustainably isn’t just the right thing to do for the planet; it makes good business sense too, by bringing about efficiencies that will ultimately deliver a return on the upfront investment,” said Kevan Wooden, CEO of LKQ UK and Ireland.
