Exol Lubricants has made a significant update to the specification profile of its Optima C5 LSOV 0W-20 (M520), which it says strengthens the product’s position as a future-ready engine oil for modern petrol and diesel vehicles.
Optima C5 LSOV 0W-20 now meets the latest API SQ and SQ-RC categories, alongside ILSAC GF-7A, reflecting the most recent advances in engine oil performance standards.
These additions build on the oil’s existing low SAPS, fuel-efficient formulation, and now deliver further improvements in deposit control, high-temperature viscosity stability and fuel economy performance compared to previous API SP and ILSAC GF-6A categories.
The updated specification also includes Ford WSS-M2C954-A1, which covers a growing number of Ford EcoBoost petrol engines, including models such as the Focus, Puma and Transit Courier.
In addition, Exol has added the Volvo VCC C6SP specification, which is backwards compatible with Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE.
Paul Timmis, group technical director, said: “These latest specification upgrades reflect how quickly engine and lubricant technology continues to evolve.
"API SQ and ILSAC GF-7A set a new benchmark for deposit control, fuel efficiency and protection under high thermal stress, while the addition of Ford WSS-M2C954-A1 and Volvo VCC C6SP ensures Optima C5 LSOV 0W-20 remains aligned with the latest OEM requirements.”
