Sales of aftermarket parts have fallen by nearly 5% compared with a year ago, according to new data published by analyst Factor Sales.
Sales for the first half of 2025 dropped by 4.83% compared with the same point in 2024 and revenues fell by 5.83%.
Brake components have been hit particularly hard, with sales down by 11% and revenues falling by 9%.
Meanwhile, the average price of parts rose to £21.01, compared with £20.12 in 2024. According to Factor Sales, this is in part due to an increase in sales of high-value items such as body and exhaust components.
Nonetheless, that the cooling and heating segment continues to perform strongly, it said, while engine and service parts are on the rebound from slow sales earlier in the year.
Alex Jenner, business development manager for Factor Sales, said: "This latest data is concerning and while it is difficult to pinpoint exactly why, looking back to 2023 when the market was broadly flat in terms of value, the recent price increases would indicate that they are now playing a significant role."
